Child Protection Policy

Child Protection Policy for Strivajin Foundation

Strivajin Foundation, we are deeply committed to safeguarding the rights, safety, and dignity of every child we work with. Our Child Protection Policy aligns with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), and the guidelines set by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all children.

Guiding Principles:

  • Zero Tolerance for Child Abuse: Strivajin Foundation strictly prohibits any form of abuse—physical, emotional, or sexual—against children. This applies to all employees, volunteers, partners, and anyone associated with our work.
  • Best Interest of the Child: In every decision, action, or program involving children, their best interest will be the primary consideration.
  • Non-Discrimination: Every child has the right to protection, irrespective of their caste, gender, religion, or socio-economic background.
  • Safe Spaces: We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and child-friendly environment where children feel secure, respected, and empowered to speak up about their concerns.

Key Provisions:

  • Mandatory Reporting: As per the POCSO Act, all staff, volunteers, and associated individuals are legally bound to report any suspicion or incident of child abuse. Failing to report will lead to disciplinary action and possible legal consequences.
  • Confidentiality: Any information regarding child abuse will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, protecting the child’s identity, in line with legal requirements.
  • Internal Child Protection Committee (ICPC): The foundation will have an Internal Child Protection Committee responsible for receiving complaints, investigating cases, and ensuring that swift and appropriate action is taken to protect the child.
  • Support and Rehabilitation: Children affected by abuse will be provided immediate support, including counseling, medical assistance, and legal aid. The foundation will work closely with child welfare authorities and other stakeholders for the child’s rehabilitation.
  • Background Verification: All employees, volunteers, and partners working directly with children will undergo rigorous background checks to ensure the safety of the children.
  • Awareness and Training: Regular child protection training sessions will be conducted for all staff and volunteers to ensure awareness of child rights, the POCSO Act, and appropriate behavior when engaging with children.
  • Partnerships and Collaborations: Strivajin Foundation will work in collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and other child protection organizations to strengthen child protection mechanisms and promote the welfare of children.

Code of Conduct for Working with Children:

  • Treat all children with respect, dignity, and care.
  • Avoid any form of inappropriate physical contact, communication, or behavior.
  • Always ensure the presence of another responsible adult when interacting with children in one-on-one situations.
  • Do not engage in any behavior that could be interpreted as abusive, exploitative, or harmful to a child’s well-being.

Monitoring and Review:

This policy will be regularly reviewed to ensure that it remains effective, up-to-date, and compliant with national laws and international child protection standards.

By adhering to this policy, Strivajin Foundation aims to foster a protective and empowering environment where every child can thrive, free from fear and harm.
